- In 1950, she founded the Missionaries of Charity, which grew to include thousands of nuns and operated in over 133 countries by 2012. The order runs homes for people dying of HIV/AIDS, leprosy, and tuberculosis, as well as soup kitchens, dispensaries, mobile clinics, orphanages, and schools¹².
